VOCAL PERFORMANCE

I have been singing in choirs and other vocal ensembles since my freshman year of high school and have been classically trained as a baritone for five years. While at Illinois Wesleyan University, I was a four-year member of the Collegiate Choir, the university's top auditioned vocal ensemble, and studied voice under Dr. Sam Scifres and Dr. J. Scott Ferguson. I have been formally recognized at both the high school and college levels for my dedication to the choral ensembles in which I participated.

I'm currently singing with a community chamber choir in the Seattle area, the Cascadian Chorale. The repertoire is roughly on par with, if not quite as varied as, the literature I was accustomed to singing in high school and college, and features works from local composers.

A particular interest of mine within vocal music is barbershop quartet singing. I have sung bass, lead and baritone (my preferred voice part) in various quartets over the past few years. One of my more recent quartets, Upturn, competed in the international collegiate quartet contest.
